GLOC-9 feat Ebe Dancel - Sirena


Aristotle Pollisco (born October 18, 1977), better known by his stage name Gloc-9, is an Awit Award-winning Filipino rapper. His fast-flowing vocal style has made him one of the most successful hip-hop artists in the Philippines. He was described by fellow Filipino rapper Francis Magalona as "a blacksmith of words and letters, and a true Filipino poet." He has collaborated almost a dozen of songs with other OPM artists; “Lando” with late Francis M., “Upuan” with Jaezelle, “Bagsakan” with Parokya ni Edgar and Francis M., and “Sari-Saring Kwento” with Noel Cabangon and Champ Lui Pio. His songs mostly tackle social issues such as social injustices, poverty and patriotism.He is notably one of the few artists in the Philippine music scene who has won every award he was nominated for. 

This song, Sirena (Mermaid in spanish), features Ebe Dancel, the former vocalist of now defunct pinoy band Sugarfree. The song is about the life of a gay person, from his childhood to his teenage years until to the deathbed of his father. The video was directed by J. Pacena II and it features prominent gay personalities like members of the Ladlad Party List such as Danton Remoto and Boy Abunda. The uploaded music video of this song in YouTube reached 2 million views in less than a month.
